United Airlines will launch a new premium economy class called Premium Plus in early 2019. The airline plans to install 22 of the premium economy seats on the Boeing 767-300ER, 24 on its 777s and 21 on the 787-10.
SITA's 2018 baggage report showed that airlines are mishandling fewer passenger bags, with the lowest rates of mishandled bags in the US and the Asia Pacific region. "In 2017, despite the significant operational challenges of coping with three major hurricanes, a power outage in Atlanta, multiple Federal Aviation Administration ground delay programs in New York and elsewhere, and some airline outages, airlines continued to improve upon previous years' progress in handling checked baggage," said A4A Chief Economist John Heimlich.
Volunteers from FedEx helped clean up and improve Shelby Farm park in Memphis, Tenn., as part of a grant program sponsored by FedEx and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation. The workers installed bat houses, pulled weeds and put down mulch.

The National Weather Service invites pilots to participate in its River Watch Program by reporting observations of river ice breakups or submitting digital photos of river ice conditions. The NWS uses the pilot reports to help forecast possible flooding.
Textron Aviation has awarded Middle Tennessee State University the use of a custom-branded Cessna Skyhawk 172 as part of the company's 2018 Top Hawk program. MTSU will have the plane through late September and use it for flight training, recruitment and promotional activities.
Arkansas' North Little Rock Municipal Airport is being plagued by coyotes that seem to enjoy chewing and playing with the silicone-based joints on a concrete ramp and taxiway. The damage will cost about $6,000 to fix; airport officials are planning to replace the sealant with another mixture they hope will be less appealing to the coyotes.
Sonaca Aircraft will unveil its two-seat single-engine airplane, the Sonaca 200, at the Aero Friedrichshafen general aviation show in Germany. Company officials say the plane is about to receive European Aviation Safety Agency certification in the CS-VLA category.
